Jay Meeks LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I work with adults across the life-span. This includes recent high school graduates and college students navigating the transition to independence to older adults approaching the end of life. I do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches because each person is unique. I use mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), mentalization based therapy (MBT), cognitive processing therapy for trauma (CPT), pragmatic psychodynamic therapy, positive psychology, and a variety of tools from other psychotherapies. In addition, I have specialized training in the LEAP method for gaining medication compliance for people suffering from psychosis. I also have extensive training and experience treating personality disorders, in particular, borderline personality disorder. I work with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, trauma, and other life difficulties. Life is full of challenges. How we respond to those challenges has a direct impact on our quality of our life. My passion is helping people to live beyond their perceived limits and overcome the challenges they face.
When not at work, I can be found hiking, running, gardening, meditating, or playing with my dogs.
